Mile-Shift Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Mile-Shift mobile app and any cloud features tied to a Mile-Shift account ("the Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The app remains usable in fully offline mode without an account; that mode is not subject to the cloud-feature sections below.

1. Trial

Mile-Shift offers a 30-day free trial of all paid features. The trial clock starts on your first record action (manually starting a trip, ending a shift, or letting auto-detect record a drive) — not on install.

During the trial, you have unlimited access to all features. The clock is anchored server-side once you sign in, so reinstalling the app does not extend the trial.

After 30 days, you must subscribe to retain access to recording new trips. Your existing trip history remains readable and exportable forever, regardless of subscription state.

2. Subscription

Mile-Shift offers two subscription products, sold through the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android):

Both subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. Pricing in your local currency may differ from the USD anchor based on Apple/Google's regional tier mapping.

Auto-renewal disclosure (required by Apple App Store rules)

Refunds

Refunds are processed by Apple and Google, not by us. Use the standard refund flows in your App Store / Google Play account. We honor any refund Apple or Google issues by immediately revoking the subscription on our side.

3. Cancellation

Cancel anytime through your App Store or Google Play account. Cancellation prevents the next renewal but does not refund the current period.

After cancellation, you retain access to paid features until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, the app reverts to read-only mode for the paid feature set; your trip history remains fully readable and exportable.

4. Referral program

You may receive a unique invite code. When a new user signs up using your code AND makes their first qualifying paid subscription purchase, your account is credited with USD 10.

Anti-fraud rules

Payout mechanism

Currently issued as in-app credit applied against your next renewal. Cash payouts and alternative mechanisms are subject to change; we will surface any material change in the app before it takes effect.

Tax disclosure

Referral credits may be considered taxable income in some jurisdictions. You are responsible for any tax obligations. We will issue a 1099-K (US) or equivalent if your cumulative annual referral earnings exceed the applicable threshold (currently USD 600 in the US, subject to IRS changes).

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Mile-Shift only for lawful purposes. Specifically you agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Intellectual property

Mile-Shift, the Mile-Shift logo, and all original content in the app are owned by us. You may not reproduce, modify, or distribute the app or its content without permission.

Your trip data is yours. We do not claim any ownership of the data you record in Mile-Shift.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that mileage figures recorded by Mile-Shift are accurate enough for tax filings, employer reimbursement, or any other regulated purpose. Always verify mileage records before submitting them for reimbursement or tax deduction.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms or the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD 50, whichever is greater.

9. Account termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time by deleting your Mile-Shift account (Settings → Account → Delete account) or, in our case, by giving you 30 days' notice via email or in-app banner.

Upon termination:

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when product or legal circumstances change. We will surface any material change in the app before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the change date means you accept the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Québec.
